NEWS 2003

30/12/2003 Venlo was fun, read our report here. You'll also find pictures in the normal pictures-sexion, in the "other bands"-sexion, in the boys-sexion ànd in the girls-sexion !
25/12/2003 Happy X-mas everybody, today it is 22 years ago that I formed this band ! The World Record Attempt which starts tomorrow is big news locally, here you'll find another newspaper-article payin' attention to it. Also the Belgian national radio will give it some attention: listen tomorrow morning to Radio 2 after the news of 7.30 am and when they have found me awake at that time you'll hear an interview with my bloody self. The day after tomorrow we're leavin' at 3.30 am to the place to be: Venlo. Hope to see you there !
13/12/2003 The report of our gig in Veurne is ready and can be read here.
11/12/2003 We received more news on the World RecordPunk: we will be band number 32 on a total of 60 bands and will play at Saturday 27/12 at 08:24 am (!).
09/12/2003 It's nearly Christmas time and Saturday you'll find us again at the Christmas market of Schuiferskapelle, sellin' home-made liquor. Here's a pressreport about it.
07/12/2003 There's a new item in the Miscellaneous-sexion: a list of bands we played with.
06/12/2003 Here's a report of our gig in Ham of last Saturday. Don't forget that today is your last chance to visit The Thirsty Scene Tour, this one will take place in Veurne.
28/11/2003 Here you'll read a report on our 250th gig of last week in Moeskroen.
22/11/2003 Hey, tonight we're playin' our 250th gig ! Read what the press writes about this and about our participation at the WorldRecord Punk.
20/11/2003 A late report on the Bad Preachers Anniversary Show of last Saturday can be read here.
19/11/2003 We added a new item in the Pictures-sexion. Next to the girls-page, we now also have a page with pictures from bands we played with.
18/11/2003 A PressReport on 2 of our new projects can be read here: it concerns our participation at the WorldRecord Punk in December and our 250st gig that will take place this weekend in Moeskroen.
17/11/2003 Great gig last Saturday on the 20th Anniversary Gig of Bad Preachers with also The Fat Ass Fuckers and a striptease-show. Bad Preachers forever !
12/11/2003 The report of our latest gig in Koksijde is online, read it here.
11/11/2003 We had a very good evenin' last Saturday in Koksijde: nice pub, good gig, many friends, pretty girls, lots of beer, yeah it was fun. Pictures are already available (don't forget to look at the girls), but I'm still tryin' to remember some things in order to write a report.
06/11/2003 If we counted well (and we believe we did), the Moeskroen-gig on 22/11/03 will be our 250th gig. We invite everyone to come and see and pay us a beer ! All our past gigs can be consulted here.
28/10/2003 Last Saturday we played a very good gig with The Dirty Scums as well as with The Thirsty Scums in the likely youth club Reflex in Kortrijk. As promised you'll now find pictures of about every gig in the pictures-sexion.
25/10/2003 Finally the report on The Thirsty Scene Tour-issue of last week in Zandhoven is finished. Read it here.
25/10/2003 We experienced some problems this week with our guestbook which should now be solved. Our apologies for this inconvenience, especially to "Boer Hugo" and "ikke" from whom we noticed they however tried to write something in the guestbook. Please try again.
06/10/2003 It seems that the search for our early records is a hot item. We received quite some reaxions on the eBay-linx in this News-sexion. It made me search for some more places on the net where our stuff is available. Here's what I found:

Dirty Songs (1st album, 1985)

Martens, jij ouwe rukker (1st single, 1986) Full Speed Ahead ! (2nd album, 1987)
05/10/2003 Finally, the report on the Ingelmunster-gig of last Sunday is available here.
01/10/2003 The report on the Middelkerke-gig of last Saturday is available here.
29/09/2003 Another interestin' object on eBay: the "333 x Up & Down"-compilation-CD released in Germany almost 10 years ago and representin' 19 bands amongst which 3 from Belgium: The Dirty Scums, Funeral Dress and Void Section. Here's the link.
Information on eBay is only 30 days available after it's sold, here's wat the German seller told about it: CD mit rarem Pogopunk. Also, insgesamt 30 songs, hier eine kleine Auswahl der Bands: Marionetz, Zona A, Wat Tyler (Leatherface), Bullocks (Dickies), The Dirty Scums, Zakonas, Void Section, ... Alle Bands spielen mehrere Songs Punkrock pur !!! Genial und vielfältig !!!!
29/09/2003 The Thirsty Scene Tour, aka The Dirty Scene Tour part II, kicked off last Saturday in Middelkerke, immediately followed on Sunday by its second issue in Ingelmunster. We spent a great weekend in which we played 4 gigs in 24 hours ! In the next days I'll try to remember something of it in order to make a report as I used to do with the 15 gigs of The Dirty Scene Tour, whose reports you still can read in our Gigs-sexion.
24/09/2003 Hey, something strange happened to me last week. You (should) know our 2nd album "Full Speed Ahead !" (1987) contains this song "Michel Strée, we support you". In those days I obtained the address of Michel Strée and I sent him a copy of the album, accompanied by a letter in which I explained the reason why he received this present. Sadly, he never wrote back. So far for the past, but last week there was this seller on eBay who offered a copy of "Full Speed Ahead !" accompanied by a personal letter of the guitarplayer of The Dirty Scums to Michel Strée ! Of course I placed a bid and I also contacted the seller. He had recently bought the album on a secondhand market in Liège, where he found it in a box of albums that contained nothin' but "chansons françaises". Here's the eBay-link, and finally my bid was the highest, hehe.
Information on eBay is only 30 days available after it's sold, here's wat the seller told about it: Original Belgian private pressing on Dirty Records from 1987, sleeve ex/record ex (slight noises between the tracks). If The Kids were the best band of the first Belgian punkscene, The Dirty Scums were with Zyklome A the best bands of the second Belgian punkscene. Formed in 1981, they released their first LP in 1985. This album recorded in 1986 was their 2nd LP. 14 KBD bombs including a greaaat snotty punkversion of Zorba’s Dance (wonderful). Comes with its 4-page insert (with photos, notes and lyrics) … and also a letter I found inside the cover, written by “dirty“ Pik (guitarist ) to Michel Strée (a young guy who in the early 80’s hijacked a schoolbus in Belgium and reached the national radio for trying to give a speech of his vision of injustice in society accommodation on the air … but police was waiting there). A song is titled Michel Stree We Support You and the band sent him this album as present.
22/09/2003 Despite my cold and the early hour on which we had to kick off the 9th edition of Nutbush Rock last Saturday in Zonnebeke, we played 2 good gigs and had a lot of fun. Very nice people there and besides that I almost fell in love with this very pretty lady ! (she looked a bit like this)
20/09/2003 Last week we had a succesful small gig in our hometown. People also appreciated very much our newly released compilation-CD "Funerally Dressed". The CD is in very limited edition, so if you want one, hurry to our mailorder
11/09/2003 People searchin' our first album (1985) should check this out. Don't wait too long, the offer ends within 5 days.
Information on eBay is only 30 days available after it's sold, here's wat the seller (from Los Angeles) told about it: Dirty Scums KBD Punk LP Orig Rare. Here is a very rare punk LP by the Belgian straight forward punkgroup The Dirty Scums. This is more on the KBD snotty punkrock side of things. And better yet, they sing in English. No year given, so I assume early to mid 80's. They give thanks to Zykome A on the back of the cover. Vinyl is VG++ and cover is VG++. This is original and not a reissue by any means. Over the top punkrock at its finest.
06/09/2003 Next weekend, our small village Schuiferskapelle has its yearly festivities. Of course we'll also take part in this: Saturday we're doin' a gig in the local venue and durin' the weekend there will also be a special CD available ! You'll find more info in our pressreport.
27/08/2003 As already announced earlier: since this week our T-Shirts are ready for sale and can be ordered through our mailorder
18/08/2003 We came home yesterday mornin' at 8 pm with some memories left from the great gig we gave the night before at the Harley Davidson Club in Torhout. We furthermore remember nice motorbikes, friendly bikers, many pretty girls and also some striptease act from a very pretty lady. Yesterday afternoon then we hit again the road to attend a great rock'n'roll-gig at Ostend from the resurrected eighties legends Revenge 88, from whom I was an early fan in these times. And as this is a news-sexion: actual bassplayer from Revenge 88 is the same guy as the one who plays the bass in Marky Ramone and the Speedkings.
05/08/2003 Thirsty like hell it was in Oostrozebeke last Friday: with litres of beer we kicked some ass at a private birthdayparty from which we came home at about 7 am in the mornin'. And for myself: ready to start another (family-)party some hours later at 11.30 am.
22/07/2003 Really a fuckin' lot of people always ask us if there are T-Shirts available from The Dirty Scums. Well once upon a time there were, but within one month you can get definitely again T-Shirts from The Dirty Scums. They will be black, the frontside will show the cover of our "Proud to be Punk"-CD, and the backside will show the words "PROUD TO BE A PUNK". They will cost 10 € and will be available in L and XL.  We'll also have a kids-L-version and a LongSleeve-L-version, we don't know yet if the price will be the same. Pre-orders (and pre-payments of course) will be free of postal charges. For details concernin' orders, see our mailorder.
21/07/2003 There's news from the Ieper PunxPicNic, originally meant to be a festival over 3 days, and later reduced to 2 days: due to financial and other problems, the festival is now reduced to only 1 day. As there were 18 bands contacted for a 2 days-issue, there are now plenty of bands too much with as a result that half of the bands won't be able to gig, includin' The Dirty Scums ... Sorry folx, but you'll find one gig less on our gig-list. More news on the PunxPicNic can be found here although this site isn't updated very frequently.
14/07/2003 Saturday we played for the 3rd time already in JH De Splinter in Roosdaal: it turned out in a very very hot and of course a very thirsty summerevenin' and night. Next year, you will see us again in this neighbourhoud when we'll play for the 2nd time in a village nearby on the yearly anniversary weekend of the local motorbike-club. They guaranteed us there will also be a topless act !
30/06/2003 Last Saturday we headlined a very chaotical organised evenin' in a crowded metal/grind-core pub owned by a friendly bartender and his beautiful girlfriend: yeah, punx and metals united once again.
27/06/2003 We found two reports on the net from previous gigs and included them in our own site: here you'll find one from our gig on 08/11/2002 in De Brugse Bierkaai, written by the pub-owner, and here you'll find one from our gig on 03/05/2003, written by Extortion.
01/06/2003 Last Saturday I was readin' the newspaper in a pub while drinkin' some delicious beers, when I found a very small article sayin' that a person called Marbles was found dead that week. You should know that Marbles was the drummer of No Debt and later the guitarplayer and singer of Legal Suffering. His girlfriend even did the backin' vocals on our The Pils Sessions-CD. I was very astonished and will try to find out what happened to him.
31/05/2003 I think we went 2 days ago to the great Schwung-festival in Roeselare, not far from our hometown. We saw o.a. a great gig from Motörhead, doin' all the classix includin' the Pistols' "God save the queen" ("for the punx, and I mean '77 !") and their own "R.A.M.O.N.E.S." ("for my friends Joey and DeeDee").
27/05/2003 This Sunday our site will exist 1 year ! To celebrate this, the first five on-line orders of the weekend of 31 May and 1st June will receive a present out of the mailorderlist.
19/05/2003 The day before yesterday we had a cancelled gig in Dilbeek for reasons not really clear. Anyway, it gave us the opportunity to visit a gig of the band "Le Folk Explosion". It was only their 2nd gig, and the name will not say anythin' to you, but the band consists of all the original members of Game Over. Completed with 4 other members they now play Irish folk and drink a lot of Guiness.
17/05/2003 Last week (10/05) we played for the 6th time already in the B52 in Eernegem: it was fun and the beers tasted well.
09/05/2003 Last Saturday (03/05) we played on a great punkfestival organised by Extortion. We performed a very good gig in front of about 180 punx, the girls were beautiful, the beer was cold and the Scums were good, yeah.
05/05/2003 You can find a report on the last gig of Part I of The Dirty Scene Tour here.
23/04/2003 The last gig but one of The Dirty Scene Tour Part I took place in Zwevegem, we made again a report of it.
17/04/2003 Saturday we had to drive to Rekem, in the province of Limburg, near the border of the Netherlands, for The Dirty Scene Tour. Here's our report.
30/03/2003 Yesterday The Dirty Scene Tour passed Jabbeke, read about it here.
25/03/2003 The Tour goes on, here's a report on the gig in Koersel.
19/03/2003 A report on the great Hooglede-gig of last Saturday can be found here.
10/03/2003 Last Saturday was a great Anniversary Show ! We succeeded in makin' a report of it.

03/03/2003 Last Saturday we conquered Oostrozebeke, read the report here.

24/02/2003 More news on our 21st Anniversary Gig: PressReport and info on all the bands.
18/02/2003 Some very sad news reached us today: Johan van Leeuwen, punk icon of the Netherlands, the man behind de Koekrand and the guy who knew everythin' about punk in the Netherlands and elsewhere, died a week ago at the age of 43 from a brain tumor. Let our thoughts go to his family and his close friends. Here you can read more about Johan.
16/02/2003 Just returned from the Welle-gig, read the report here. Shit, I nearly forgot this one.
04/02/2003 More news on our 21st Anniversary Gig.
02/02/2003 We were totally ready for it, but the weather decided it otherwise. Due to the weather conditions (too much snow on the roads and glazed frost announced for the night) we had to cancel the issue of The Dirty Scene Tour of last evenin' in Koksijde. We feel sorry towards to the organiser and the folx who came to see us, but this was a matter of force majeur, as they call it. You can read more details about our decision here.
26/01/2003 Here you can find our report on yesterday's Wondelgem-gig.
18/01/2003 Our 21st Anniversary Gig will take place at The Stage in Tielt with gigs of the bands Extortion, Mise*en*Scene, The Dirty Scums, Agathocles and Bad Preachers, while DJ Fox will serve us the best punkmusic he'll find in his collexion. The evenin' will start at 6 pm, first band will start to gig at exactly 7.30 pm, presale will be 3 €, at the door you'll pay 5 €. More details will follow !
