Last Saturday we played on the 2nd Punk & Metal Night in Markegem of which one of the organizers is Keez' son Joey. We played in a classic venue with a great sound and a huge stage, and we loved to play there. A problem with my amp in the first song and a broken string some songs later couldn't spoil the fun. Furthermore Golden Bullet and Mise*en*Scene were absolutely worth to watch them. All in all a great evening with a great bill, thank you organizers, and see you probably next year ?

This Monday we were invited to play at the 5th Anniversary Gig of Retired Punx. A great punkcoverband that played on 2 of our 25th Anniversary Gigs. It was our 2nd gig in 4 days and I believe it was the first time ever we played on a Monday. We could play in a great venue with a very long bar and with plenty of people. In the first song I broke a string, and some songs later Zjantie broke his snare-drum. We quickly could use the snare-drum of Retired Punx, thanx for this guys. But it took some time to feel again at my ease. After all, we played a decent show but could only bring some movement in the first couple of rows. It was Retired Punx that could move half of the venue by attacking it with one punkhit after another. Good vibrations during their gig, and a very good time afterwards !

Great gig last Friday in this small metal-pub Den Deugniet. Not that much pogo-dancin' durin' the gig but everybody gave us a lot of compliments afterwards. Organizer Frederik even promised to ask us back in some youth club nearby.

Yesterday it was the 5th time we played in Dentergem: we gigged there once in the eighties, 2 times in the nineties, and now for the 2nd time in the 21st century. 4th time in this youth club and not a single person in the pub had ever seen one of our previous gigs here before: amazing, isn't it. The evening started slowly but by the time of our gig the club was crowded enough to give the best of ourselves and we had a good time during the gig. A shame however of the awful music that was played after our gig, but nevertheless, see you next time around Dentergem !

What a wonderful night last Saturday in Wetteren. The place to be was a small pub run by two beautiful ladies. They not only showed a professional taste in the beers they served (3 Trappist beers on the beerlist !), but also their musical taste was very agreeable (let's say underground rock). We could play once again with the band of my daughter, Spooneye, who played a very good show in front of an attentive public. When we started to play, it was quickly obvious the pub was indeed very small, people and beer flew all through and around the pub and all this created a great sphere. Thank you Isa and Syb ! And not to forget, I am no more able to play our song "I wanna hear you come" without you on my mind Isa.

The 8th edition of our Rock@Schuiferskapelle-minifestival was again very alright ! People, booze, bands, everything was OK. And not to forget: we received a lot of compliments on the 1st edition of our Sex Pistols-Tribute ! If you need a Pistols-Tributeband, one address: The Thirsty Scums.

Yesterday Spooneye let us know they can't play this Saturday because of problems with the singer's vocal chords. They will be replaced by All My Sins.

Our new T-shirt is delivered: colour-picture on the front with the biggest print ever made in Belgium on a shirt, and a summary of the "Proud to be a punk"-lyrix on the back. Soon available in our eBay-shop but also this weekend at the coming Rock@Schuiferskapelle-festival.

Today's my birthday, thanx, but also nearly the end of the summer. We can look back on succeeded BBQ's, quite some beer tastings/parties, too few bikini-girls and topless girls (not their fault, it's the weather which was to blame), but also on very Pistols-inspired rehearsals, can't wait till the first Thirsty Scums gig !

Hey, for the second time in less than 10 months we could attent a gig of the Sex Pistols ! The gig last year in November in London meant the start of The Thirsty Scums' Tribute to the Sex Pistols. This time, last Saturday, we saw them at the Lokerse Feesten, and we can say that we're ready for our first gig. It will take place at our own festival Rock@Schuiferskapelle on 13/09/2008. We'll play the complete "Never mind the bollocks"-album and even some more songs.

Last Friday we tried for the second time Rock Zottegem to see Motörhead. Two years ago, Lemmy was ill and the gig was cancelled, but this time Motörhead was more than alive ! Fabulous gig, quite some punx and familiar faces on the festival, and we even got interviewed by some national TV-station, watch it here.

Guys, this is sad news: Bad Preachers have split up. A collective suicide of the Scums-members is maybe the consequence.

Long time no hear ? Yes you bet. First the Smallfest/H²p/JIN-fest was cancelled, also the Markegem-gig was all the time postponed, now it will take place in October. We were contacted for some more festivals but were finally not invited: the Bootrockin' Riots in Stasegem (maybe next issue), Loco Loco in Merchtem (probably next year), Velorock in Ostend (no reason given, no answer anymore). In the mean time we made ourselves useful at the Zythos Beerfestival, at the WBF-Beerhappening, and at a local beerhappening in Tielt (where our own beer of course was represented). In between we saw giggin' de Brassers and Wire. Furthermore with The Thirsty Scums, after almost 10 years we quit the Tribute to the Ramones in favour of a Tribute to the Sex Pistols, which we're quite busy rehearsing now. Our mailorder on this site is replaced by an eBay-shop, which still doesn't count yet our complete mailorder but already more than 60 articles.

Once again it's proven that local beers and dirty scums go extremely well together. Last Saturday we played in Gullegem at an occasion where the bar served local beers. We especially liked the Netebuk and the Heerlijkheid. We played a very good show, in which the crowd went mad at the end, and didn't stop shouting for encores. Needless to say that we amused ourselves very well. Thank you Gullegem !

First gig of 2008 last Saturday led us to Charleroi to one of the "Free Style Rock"-festivals regularly organised by Vortex. We were the first band and after a good soundcheck we were already in the first song of the gig confronted with monitors that didn't work. No one succeeded in let them work, so we played a gig in which we hardly heard ourselves singin'. Afterwards we were told that also the audience hadn't much heard of our singin' qualities. Only from the third band on the sound became reasonable and then we had more then plenty of time to drink beers on the good and punky gigs of 't Vettig Front, Vortex and Pestpocken (DEU).
