Our 25th Anniversary Gig #3 was again a real good dirty party. Technically speaking, we played the best show of the three anniversary gigs, like no broken strings or cables or shit like that. If you think some songs of The P.O.G.O.Z. needed some more practice, then you heard quite well, haha. But I can't accent how legendary these guys are. And Retired Punx, retired ? My fuckin' ass, all members are at least ten years younger than I am, and I'm no way thinkin' about retirin', so they shouldn't do either. They played such a good show, if nobody stops me I'm gonna ask these guys at every party we organize.

Asking a Flemish band and a French band in the Wallonian part of Belgium in these turbulent Belgian days didn't work when we count the number of persons who came to the gig of last Saturday. However, it worked extremely well in the after-"party" we had with the very friendly and particularly female people of the organisation.

This Monday we went to London to see the Sex Pistols ! They were fantastic, great, amazing !! I have an overdose of Sex Pistols and it feels extremely well.

A long way of driving and a (positive) alcoholtest with the cops brought us last Saturday finally to Vorselaar. There was this party for the very last gig of the Mess, and you know we always find it a shame that bands like this call it a quit. A small pub and plenty of people is always a good combination, and that was exactly the situation in Vorselaar. Plenty of beers and songs later it was about 2 in the morning when we played our last song. And then the party only had to start ...

The gig of last Saturday was really in the middle of nowhere. It took place in a very tasteful arranged horse stable of a manège, where there was luckily enough not that much of horseshit left. In spite of this desolated place, there was quite a crowd who brought a lot of sphere. The sound in this horse stable however was a bit bizar, and Zjantie suffered too much from his astma, reason why we can't call it a 100 % succeeded gig, but as usual no one cared about this. And I also think I'll soon have to replace my 20 year old wireless system for a new one, the thing starts to refuse from time to time.

The 7th edition of our own Rock@Schuiferskapelle was really the best up till now. It was the first time we organized it in a tent, which made it especially cosy, a lot of people showed up, we sold an enormous quantity of our own new beer, and our new playlist was very much appreciated by the crowd. Thank you bands and also thanx to all the people, young and old, who showed up !

This was our first concert again after the troubles with my left shoulder and right wrist, and it happened this evening was based on nearly the same line-up of the last gig we did: together with the Hellies and WR3, both great punkrockbands. We played in a very crowded youthclub in Zottegem, where all bands played very well and also very relaxed: it was about 1.35 am when we finally could do our thing. Not for very long however, because at about 2 am, in the middle of song no. 8, we were brutally stopped by police orders. We had done a lot of effort to come over, because Zjantie’s girlfriend was normally goin’ to have a baby that same day, we had prepared a new programme, it was also my birthday, it was our first gig with Keez' new bass-ampli, with my new guitar, with my new pedal, holy shit, no, stoppin' the gig was not very pleasant ! Everybody had to leave the pub, the bar was closed, but everybody loved our own new beer ‘nen Dirty Scum, which we sold for the very first time: we sold every beer we had with us. Anyway: local punkheroes Bless this Mess, organizers of the evening, promised us to ask us again to play the remaining songs of our set.

30/08/2007 Last weekend we went to see the Stranglers on the Marktrock-Poperinge festival. In fact I found ‘em pretty cool and pretty good, especially after the numerous Westvleteren Trappist beers we tasted in the pub in front of the abbey.
16/08/2007 I just returned from hospital where my plaster bandage has been removed. I still have three visits a week to the kinesist for my shoulder blessure, now he also looks after my wrist. Because of my injuries we didn't rehearse very much nor did we play gigs for some weeks. Our "comeback" should be on 01/09/07 on the Muze Punkt-festival in Zottegem, see the gigs-sexion. The weekend after that we have the yearly festivities in our little town Schuiferskapelle. Here we organize on Saturday the Rock@Schuiferskapelle-festival, and on Sunday-afternoon activities for the kids. On top of that, our own beer - 'nen Dirty Scum - will be for the first time available in this weekend, and that on all locations during the whole festivities. Read more about the beer here.
11/07/2007 Bad luck seems to be my part these days. You know I fell off my bike on 15/04 which resulted in a shoulder blessure. I’ve had an operation on my left shoulder on 02/05, and another one on 06/06. After one rehearsal that I could stand without pain, last week I fell again on 05/07, this time from the rehearsal room after I had been cleaning it. Result: my right wrist is broken on several places … this means 6 weeks in a plaster bandage … no rehearsals … and I’m still recovering from my shoulder blessure … The headliner gig on the punk/grind-day in the Frontline of next week is already cancelled. Damned. Damned ! Damned !!
30/04/2007 A few days before I had to enter the hospital for an operation because of a shoulder blessure (I fell off my bike some days ago), we played once again at the DIY-club B52 in Eernegem. A great playlist, one that could've come out of our own dirty minds: Acne & the Kids, the Hellies, WR3, the Pandaz and The Dirty as well as the Thirsty Scums. It was a great evening but I had some serious pain at my shoulder afterwards. During our gig we also had some technical problem with my amplifier and some general electricity problem, but all this couldn't stop us and you from having fun again !
16/03/2007 Last time we played in De Pit in Koksijde was in 2003 and we had good memories at this gig. And now this time was even better, there were more people than the previous time and they amused themselves very well at our 2 gigs. The band before us, The XQ's, was announced as a local punkband but seemed to play seventies-style rock à la Jane. En plus, their guitar-player played in a blues-band with the drummer of a local extreme grindhorrorband. Very confusing, ain't it. This is also what we thought and we delivered us to some more booze. People offered us two more gigs in the next couple of months: one in Veurne and one in Moere. Punk ain't dead at the Belgium coast !
11/03/2007 The 2nd edition of our 25th Anniversary Gigs on 03/03 was again a very big succes. All bands played very well and were very much appreciated. They are definitely the oldest Belgian punkbands but maybe also the best Belgian punkbands ! We saw very familiar faces from the old days and had a really great day. Thanx a lot to the bands ànd to the + 175 punx showing up. They all will tell you what a fine evening they spent at Schuiferskapelle. Hope to meet everybody again at the 3rd edition of our 25th Anniversary Gig.
11/03/2007 The Rock-A-Birthday in Deinze was so amateuristic organized and yet at the same time so amusing. The sound was horrible but then the sphere was very OK. The drummer of grindcore-band Guttural didn't show up and Zjantie was asked as stand-in for the evening, a job he executed very decently.
03/01/2007 Hell ! The 1st edition on 23/12 of our 25th Anniversary Gigs was fantastic ! There was such a great sphere (or was it the booze), it made me think at the early punkgigs in the late seventies when I was 16. Thank you people and thank you bands. However, I had never been so nervous before in my life before and during our gig. And on top of that, Keez broke a string of his bass in the middle of our set. Mother Beirut and Retired Punx were great and contributed for a big part to the sphere. No wonder when you play covers from the Sex Pistols, Ramones, Damned, Undertones, Kids, Buzzcocks, UK Subs, Anti-Nowhere League, Exploited, Clash, Sham 69, Wire, Red Zebra, Stooges, Motörhead, ... !!!! Up to the 2nd edition.
