NEWS 2009

11/12/2009 We had a very satisfying gig in Dentergem last Saturday. It was a rather big venue but our small P.A. could handle all very well. First time I used my ear protections to save my poor head a bit, what makes it hard to follow what's going on on stage. No protection however for our own gig, we were already busy from 2 pm in the afternoon to set and test all the gear for the other bands and when we finally could play our set at 0.30 in the morning, it was good to fell that all the efforts had been worth it.
21/11/2009 Small audience, great show and an amazing John who played before us. Yes, the gig in Aarsele on 31/10 was all right !
06/10/2009 I nearly forgot to mention: the yearly festivities in our small village Schuiferskapelle in September were again very amusing. For the 9th edition of our Rock@Schuiferskapelle-minifestival we only had found two other bands in our village, but hey that was alright too. Up to the 10th anniversary edition of next year !
24/08/2009 This Sunday 30/08/2009 you can find us and our beer at the Tieltse Markt, more about it here.
14/08/2009 On 29/07 I paid my last visit to the neurologist, still 3 other physicians left to go now. On 30/07 I had my last day working before the holidays and on 01/08 I had to leave on vacation. In the 24 hours between I had o.a. a terrific ride of the cycling club, a meeting for the yearly Festivities in our village, the delivery of some new furniture, ... , some family stuff and also this gig at Reetrock in Aarsele. My memory is not anymore or not still what it used to be but I do remember a good gig of supporting act Choking on Vomit, a very satisfying gig of ourselves and revelation The Black Tartan Clan, the band in which play 2 ex-members of colleagues W.R. 3. Very satisfying indeed: the organization booked already The Thirsty Scums for their next Reetrock-edition !
28/06/2009 Last week we could play once again in our native village Zwevezele. It was by occasion of the local fair and the organization had found something for every taste: we found ourselves between a sixties coverband and a drumband. Despite the good gig we played, most of the people however came for Christoff !
22/05/2009 Because of this fuckin’ accident I’m still not 100 % the man I used to be. Live goes on anyway, so here’s finally a little update to this sexion.
Gig 21/03/2008 - To save my poor head we made a big exception to what we use to do and left late to Eernegem, so we couldn’t participate at the gigs of the other bands. Well, sadly, we weren’t the only ones, as most of the other bands didn’t watch their colleagues eather … Owner Franky had invested in a professional P.A. for his small venue and stays one of the few old bastards who still invests in the underground scene. As for me, I survived on water and cola and sedatives, and guess what, we played 2 excellent gigs and finished at about 3 am.
Gig 17/04/2009 - Despite the other bands’ qualities I had to attend them from outside this cute pub in Lauwe. Inside the pub, things didn’t go that well for my head. I survived again on only some bottles of water and sedatives and we played again an excellent gig. Afterwards, a headache prevented me from participating at all the funny things that went on …
Gig 26/04/2009 - Finally the great Inheritance Day in which we put an enormous effort. Our Belgian PunkOnVinyl-site went officially online and could count a lot of visitors. The program we had set up for the day received unanimously topcompliments. The sphere in the evening with Retired Punx and Funeral Dress, together with our Sex Pistols-Tribute, was what you may expect from this punkbill. Every band, including ourselves, played excellent. In the mean time we can count on some regular visitors to all the punkgigs we organize in Schuiferskapelle.
21/03/2009 We suppose every punk is by now familiar with the punksurvey listed in the scenereports-sexion. Well, all this information and more will soon be available on a new subsite of this Scums-site. That’ll be from 26/04/2009 on, that day in Belgium it is Inheritance Day (Erfgoeddag), and we’re planning some inheritance-festivities on the subject "Belgian Punk on Vinyl" and "Belgian Punk on Stage". We’re long enough now in this Belgian punkscene (longer than anyone else, let’s say) to be known by any other Belgian punkband and we’re running this survey for quite a time: so if you play in a Belgian punkband and you have a vinylrecord that’s NOT listed here, then let’s suppose there’s something wrong with yóu, OK ? Anyway: additions and corrections are always welcome.

I'm still not very alright for the moment, but we'll do everything to let the Eernegem-gig happen (21/03/2009). In the mean time big thanx to my family, friends, colleagues, ... who gave me a thought, a mail, a visit, ... Thanx ! There's more about the accident in our press-sexion.

Since Friday I'm finally back home after bein' hospitalised for two weeks. I've been two days in Intensive Care and I've been operated twice, of which the second operation lost four hours and was executed by two surgeons. All this because of a heavy crash with my bicycle due to damages on the road on my way home. Injuries are: concussion of the brain, skull fracture, four fractures of the face (jaws), and some minor things like teeth and pieces of teeth that are missing, callousness of certain parts of my face, perforation of the auditory organs, ... For the next weeks, mails will be answered a bit on a low profile basis, the same thing counts for orders in our ebay-shop, sorry for this ... The gig in Aarsele planned for the 21st February will be postponed.

The past weekend we moved to Veurne to play once again in JH De Doze. It was a long time ago since we saw Lunatic Society, and they played a great set. About our own gig, I've got a bit mixed feelings. While the sound in the venue appeared to be excellent, on stage we could hardly speak of a sound as we couldn't hear each other and ourselves playin' and singin'. Very frustrating but people seemed to love it anyway and we got a lot of encores in which we practised our Pistols-covers. Afterwards the beer tasted OK and we sympathised with the organisation, which was also very OK.
