Cell 609: Factories

Back to Front

'Re-pulsion' figures on BTF #5 (1994).

Bloodstains says:

II (1998): "... Cell 609 were from Liège, one of a bunch of punkbands from Wallonia who participated in the First Belgian Punkcontest & were consequently included on the compilation album of the same name. However, Cell 609 did more than just participate, they won the second night & came in second overall after the winners of the first night, the Pigz. Both bands used the free studiotime that was included in the price to good effect, the Pigz to record their 12" & Cell 609 to record this 7"."

III (1999): "... Cell 609 return with the flipside of their one & only 7" on Stuff Records, now the linernotes on said 7" have us confused, the story (in French, English, Flemish, Russian & Arab) tells this 7" was released to remember Cell 609's participation in the First Belgian Punk Contest. Cell 609 won the contest & the first price was a recorddeal, which unfortunately never happened it says cos the organising label (JW's Records) went broke shortly afterwards. It took a great effort from the band & their supporters to finally get this 7" recorded & released. Now what gets us confused is that the Pigz have always said they won the contest & they actually did get to release a 12" on JW's Records (as part of the reward). The contest was spread over two days and the Pigz played the second night (not the first as we mistakingly mentioned on vol II), so our guess is that Cell 609 won the first night & there might have been separate rewards for each night & Cell 609 didn't get theirs. It is certain that both the Pigz & Cell 609 were among the winners."
