THE DIRTY SCUMS are formed at the end of 1981: this makes them not only the last still active punkrockband in Belgium from that period, but most probably even the last one in Western Europe.

The single fact of the existence was a hard nut to crack for J.P. Sartre, for THE DIRTY SCUMS this is not sufficient. Throughout the many years they left a musical trail that takes the shine out of a lot of bands. Between 1985 and 1993 no less than three albums, three singles and three tapes were released, the oldest are now most wanted (and priced) collectors-items on music-exhibitions. Everything is always released on the own independent DIRTY RECORDS-label. Besides these own releases, there exist numberless (international) compilation tapes where one can find THE DIRTY SCUMS, they lost count around thirty. Strange enough, this number also matches the number of beers at which they lose count as well. Next to all this, between the end of 1992 and the beginning of 1993 a CD was recorded which has not been released yet. The roots of their skill are punkrock, nevertheless influences from and excursions to other genres are never neglected. On the literary level THE DIRTY SCUMS also have kicked some ass, once upon a time three editions of an own fanzine were published: The Truth Is Revolutionary. Although they are known internationally, THE DIRTY SCUMS have only been invited to three countries up till now, namely the Netherlands, Switzerland and Germany. Altogether THE DIRTY SCUMS have played about 200 gigs.

Since June 1994 they have been performing as a combo again after maintaining a ménage à trois for ten years. The ranks have been reinforced by a member of the late GET STUFFED. He had one big advantage on the other candidates, namely he could already independently handle a large quantity of beer. The rage you live have to deal with is hereby increased a lot. Be warned, THE DIRTY SCUMS are still in the house !
